Brise-lames de la rivière Rimouski

205, avenue de la Cathédrale, Rimouski, Québec G5L 7C7

About

The Rimouski River breakwater was redeveloped in 2015 to create a relaxing space in an urban setting. The redevelopment concept was built around the importance of preserving the image of a wharf, its original function. The installed street furniture allows small groups to enjoy the space while taking in the surrounding scenery.

In addition, performances are occasionally held on site. Wood, concrete, and vegetation were used in the redevelopment of the breakwater. Architect André Nadeau, from the Québec‑based firm OPTION aménagement, proposed redevelopment scenarios to the City.
