In Témiscouata in Bas-Saint-Laurent, fall under the spell of Dégelis, a town located in the heart of the valley of Lake Témiscouata and the Madawaska River, and on the edge of the New Brunswick border. The city’s name is inspired by the Madawaska River, whose waters remain ice-free throughout the winter over a distance of nearly 15 kilometers. The permanent thaw of this watercourse favors the wintering of several species of ducks to the delight of ornithology enthusiasts. It is also possible to observe the bald eagle which has taken up residence there for several years.
In Dégelis, life is dynamic and stimulating thanks to a common desire to actively participate in development economic and tourist area. Many events are presented there such as the Song Festival & humor Le Tremplin, Dégelis en fête, FestiQuad, the Grand Festival canin, etc. For outdoor enthusiasts, its geographical location makes it a privileged destination since it offers access to the Lac-Témiscouata National Park, the Bas-Saint-Laurent national hiking trail, and the Le Petit Témis interprovincial cycle path linking the Quebec in New Brunswick, and at Zec Owen. It is also crisscrossed by a vast network of snowmobile and ATV trails. Dégelis invites you to discover the Polaris Celestial Garden, the regulation dam of Lake Témiscouata with its footbridge for cyclists and pedestrians, camping and the beach, as well as the regional products offered every Sunday in the summer at the Marché Gourmand Desjardins du Témiscouata.
