Concerts aux Îles du Bic Where Nature Becomes Music
Writing
Marc Larouche, he shares with us his tourist discoveries of his adopted region with passion!
A breathtaking setting, music that captivates, and this year, a milestone worth celebrating. From August 1 to 8, 2026, the Concerts aux Îles du Bic mark their 25th anniversary with a vibrant, bold and more unifying-than-ever edition, crafted for visitors in search of emotion, beauty and authenticity.
The Bic is, first and foremost, about landscapes. It’s one of those rare places where the river feels endless, where islands rise like living paintings, and where the light shifts constantly. You walk, you breathe, you settle in. And then, the music begins. It gently takes hold, carried by the wind, enhancing everything around it. Here, every concert becomes a suspended moment—an experience outside of time.
Since 2002, the Concerts aux Îles du Bic have artfully blended music with place.
This is more than a performance; it’s a fully immersive experience, where the beauty of the surroundings becomes part of the show.
And for this 25th anniversary, that experience reaches an entirely new level.
Festival Hub
A major new addition this year: the Festival Hub. A true beating heart set around Bic Church, extending across two parks and several nearby venues. It’s a lively, welcoming central space where festivalgoers can gather, connect, eat, drink, and simply take in the atmosphere. From morning to evening, visitors move between artistic discoveries and moments of relaxation.
Among the highlights, the immersive experience “Echoes of the Living” promises a fascinating multisensory journey in Mont-Saint-Louis Park, created by sound artist Myriam Boucher and biologist Ludovic Jolicoeur.
Also not to be missed: Malvenn, a neo-traditional trio blending Breton, Irish and Québécois influences that’s sure to get the party started. For families, “Pouet!”, a playful performance combining mime, clowning and music, offers fun for all ages. Add to that talks, conversations and special celebrations marking this 25th anniversary, all set within a warm and festive atmosphere.
At the heart of it all: music. Around thirty professional musicians come together in a bold, genre-crossing lineup featuring chamber music, piano, electroacoustic performances, traditions from here and abroad, ancestral songs, theatre—even science. It’s daring, vibrant and deeply human.
Among the headliners, pianist Chloé Dumoulin, recognized among Canada’s top 30 emerging musicians, will deliver a striking opening concert with a fresh take on Chopin’s Preludes. Collectif9, a Juno Award-winning ensemble, joins forces with drummer Ronny Desinor for an explosive evening.
Composer Myriam Boucher, Wolastoq artists Samaqani Cocahq and Judie Acquin, singer Erika Angell, Trio Salicorne and Ensemble Modulaire further enrich the program with remarkable diversity.
Some moments are already shaping up to be unmissable: a Canadian premiere concert-portrait dedicated to composer Charlotte Sohy
The Grand 25th Anniversary Cabaret, promising a lively and festive night; and a powerful closing concert blending Wolastoq songs with European and American traditions in a unifying finale.
Over the past 25 years, the Concerts aux Îles du Bic have welcomed renowned artists such as Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Alain Lefèvre. This year continues that tradition of excellence—along with its share of surprises.
Attending the Concerts aux Îles du Bic is like stepping into a pause. A moment to slow down, to be inspired, to feel. In a place that feels like paradise, let yourself be carried away by the music—and everything that surrounds it.
