Pont du Collège- Covered Bridge

12, rue de l'Église, Saint-Onésime d’Ixworth, Québec G0L 3W0

About

The College Bridge was built in 1919, replacing the bridge which had just accidentally burned down. The heritage emblem of Sait-Onésime-d’Ixworth therefore celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2020 and is still a place of meeting and relaxation appreciated by all.

Major renovations were made in 2008, ensuring the survival of the only covered bridge remaining in the territory of the MRC of Kamouraska. It proudly overlooks the Rivière-Ouelle at its 25 meters long and has been recognized as a historic monument since 2002.

The Pont du Collège offers visitors a superb view of the salmon river and the College Falls . The Parc des Souvenances was developed near the bridge and the Ouelle River, offering relaxation areas as well as a series of interpretative panels.

If you visit during the summer, find out about the planned activities: Pont-Couvert Market, open-air cinema, cultural activities, shows and more!

To get to the Pont du Collège, take the village path, turn right onto rue de l’Église and continue to the end. The covered bridge will be on your right.
