Le Festuaire de Cacouna
About
he Festuaire de Cacouna will return on July 18 and 19 for an edition titled “Les Noces de bois deboutte,” promising two days celebrating the performing arts in the heart of the Bas-Saint-Laurent.
Presented free of charge, the multidisciplinary festival will once again transform the coastal village into a vast open stage where music, poetry, dance, theatre, and artistic performances come together.
The president and co-founder of Festuaire, Hugo Latulippe, notes that the event has grown over the years, now attracting visitors from across Quebec.
The festivities will begin on Saturday, July 18, at Parc du Clocher with a community dinner showcasing local flavours from MAQAHAMOK – Pub Wolastoqey and Marché Desbiens. The evening will continue with a poetry event hosted by Cacouna poets Jonathan Lamy and Rachel McCrum.
The public will then be able to attend the show “BSL Système Son,” created by Guillaume Monette, featuring several artists from the Bas-Saint-Laurent scene, including Kourage, Marilie Bilodeau, Papillon Social Club, William Guay, Van Carton, and Maolie Fleurent.
Sunday, July 19, will open with a performance by Acadian dancer and choreographer Gabrielle Boudreau, winner of the TV show RÉVOLUTION in 2023. A public meditation led by visual artist Stéphanie Robert will also be presented.
In the afternoon, singer-songwriter Mykalle Bielinski will present her work “Warm Up,” exploring themes of degrowth and the climate crisis.
