Treat yourself to a maple feast
Writing
Laura Martin, she shares her crushes and discoveries with us for our greatest happiness!
Baked beans, glazed ham, golden pancakes, and maple syrup-drenched grands-pères. In Bas-Saint-Laurent, spring doesn’t arrive with birdsong, but with the mouthwatering aromas wafting from sugar shacks. As soon as the snow turns to slush, everyone heads to the maple groves.
Yes, we go there to indulge our sweet tooth without restraint, but also to walk among the tapped maple trees, breathe in the fresh air, and chat with passionate maple syrup producers. (Everyone knows the trick: after the hearty feast, we make up an excuse to take a short walk in the forest, just to make room for a second helping of pouding chômeur.)
Two maple groves in our region continue the generous ritual of the meal. Whether you’re for or against crispy maple ears, don’t wait to reserve your table.
In the spring, impatient and ruthless sweet tooths fight over seats. And we don’t want any arguments in the cabins!

This maple syrup farm, located in Saint-Pascal in Kamouraska, offers a gourmet experience you won’t soon forget.
Whether you opt for a hearty breakfast or a three-course lunch or dinner, you’ll leave the woods feeling full as a pig.
In her cozy dining room, the owner recreates the lively atmosphere of large family gatherings of yesteryear. Seasonal music and generously filled plates await you before you head out to enjoy some maple taffy on snow under the sun. The maple grove is now in its 19th spring.
Cabane du Ravage
In the Témiscouata RCM, syrup lovers will now flock to Cabane du Ravage. Pea soup, cipaille, cocktail sausages, coleslaw: it’s all there, in a menu developed in collaboration with various local producers. Opened in 2024, the enchanting site in Pohénégamook offers families much more than a meal: it offers a complete Quebec spring experience.
You can go snowshoeing in the maple grove, sledding, and visit an ancestral sugar shack, a hunter’s hide, and a traditional teepee. It’s not uncommon to see white-tailed deer feeding at the edge of the forest.
The Discovery Trail also teaches visitors more about this golden product. There’s plenty to do to get your glucose fix and fill your day without noticing the time passing!
