In Lac-des-Aigles, the village’s old church has been given a new lease on life. Transformed thanks to an ambitious community project and a multi-million dollar investment, since the summer of 2025 it has been home to the brand new Center for the Interpretation of Salmonids and Aquatic Ecosystems (CISEA).

As soon as you walk through the doors, you forget the wooden benches of yesteryear and dive into an immersive experience unique in Quebec. Visitors are immediately captivated by an impressive sensory display: interactive walls, tactile floors, 3D projections, light shows, and virtual reality headsets transform the visit into an immersive adventure. Here, you can explore the salmonid family—salmon, trout, brook trout, whitefish—and the fragile balance of the aquatic ecosystems that shelter them.

What sets CISEA apart is the way it combines science and wonder.

Visitors learn to recognize species, understand phenomena related to headwater rivers and lakes, and appreciate the importance of preserving these unique environments.

The experience is not limited to screens: educational content tailored to schools, groups, and families allows visitors to leave with concrete knowledge about water and biodiversity.

And the adventure will soon continue outdoors. Starting next summer, a pontoon on the lake will welcome groups for sampling trips.

Bird watching, plankton sampling, microscope analysis: science is experienced in the field, in direct contact with the water and its inhabitants.

The center is also developing interpretive trail activities that connect indoor discoveries with the reality of the natural environment.

CISEA offers a lively immersion in the world of lakes, an experience that awakens curiosity and environmental awareness while inspiring wonder.

Whether you are a fisherman, outdoor enthusiast, science buff, or simply a curious visitor, this center invites you to dive into an unexpected aquatic world. You may even come out with your own fishing story!

With a headset over your eyes and a rod in your hand, you’ll dive into a fishing experience so realistic that only the fish you catch will remind you that this is a virtual world.
