Bootlegger trail
- 1 DAY — 3.1 KM
- DIFFICULTY BEGINNER
- ELEVATION 62 M
- ROUTE TYPE LOOP
- DURATION 1 H
This loop trail, located in Parc nature du lac Long, provides access to the shores of lac Long and invites you to enjoy the surrounding scenery. The route begins at the first parking area, following chemin d’Alfred, named after the region’s famous bootlegger. After a short distance, a side trail leads into a relatively untouched forest. The path, dotted with rustic footbridges and stairways, leads to a shelter at the junction of several trails. From there, the trail continues to the tip of the peninsula, offering panoramic views of lac Long and its islands, where you might even spot a bald eagle’s nest. The return follows the Bretelle du Curé, which connects back to chemin d’Alfred. Interpretive panels along the way share insights about the area’s flora, fauna, and local history, with colorful anecdotes about the region’s bootlegging past.
