Église Saint-Patrice de Rivière-du-Loup

121 Lafontaine, Rivière-du-Loup, Québec G5R 3A3

About

Saint‑Patrice Church is the fourth church built on the territory of Rivière‑du‑Loup. Rebuilt after the 1883 fire, it was inaugurated as early as January 4, 1884, on the foundations of the previous building.

Designed by renowned Québec architect Charles Baillargé, and enhanced by the talent of Napoléon Bourassa and David Ouellet, the church features a remarkable Gothic architectural style, noted for the elegance of its vaults and its exceptional acoustics. The harmony of its lines and the refinement of its décor create an atmosphere that is both impressive and serene.

As the first church of Rivière‑du‑Loup, it now stands as a major element of the city’s religious and cultural heritage, bearing witness to the history, faith, and craftsmanship of the generations who shaped the community.
