This art studio and boutique showcases the expertise and traditions of the Maliseet and other First Nations in unique, original works made by indigenous artists and artisans. Located on the Maliseet of Viger reserve in Cacouna, the Maison Denis-Launière is the last remaining structure of the Maliseet settlements in the Bas-Saint-Laurent. Built in the 1890s, the house is now the Maliseet interpretative centre. Matuweskewin is a Maliseet-Passamaquoddy word meaning “porcupine hunter.”
