About
Saint-Marc-du-Lac-Long is so named to honour the evangelist as well as the 22-kilometre-long lake it borders. Settled in 1908, the municipality owes its existence to the construction of the railway since its first inhabitants settled in from New Brunswick and Acadia to build the line. The municipality is also recognized for the presence of a major Glendyne slate quarry, the only one in North America.
