What to do in July in Bas-Saint-Laurent

Laura Martin, she shares her crushes and discoveries with us for our greatest happiness!

July is here, with its scent of sunscreen, bathing suit markings and long, golden evenings. The region is ablaze with the heat of festivals, terraces and shows under the stars. It’s impossible to get bored during the most beautiful month of the year!

Le Vent gourmand, Trois-Pistoles

In July and August

In Trois-Pistoles, summer is in full swing with the 6th edition of Le Vent gourmand.

Four events are scheduled each week: literary cabarets on Wednesdays, dance evenings on Thursdays, piano by the water on Fridays and musical picnics on Sundays.

And, of course, it’s the perfect opportunity to sample delicious local produce. Ask for the map to find them!

Le Festival ARCHIPEL

Kamouraska, Saint-Pascal and Saint-Pacôme

July 11-13

A solo by comedienne Christine Beaulieu at the Belvédère de la Croix, a show by the group Avec pas d’casque at the church, a contemporary dance performance in the village: the program for this 3rd edition celebrates the living arts in incongruous but frankly inspiring places.

Slam, neoclassical music, circus, visual arts: culture buffs are in for a treat (and the event is eco-responsible, too!).

Les Terrasses urbaines, Rimouski

From July 11 to August 10

For the 12th summer, a portion of rue Saint-Germain will belong to vacationers in gougounes.

Between rue Belzile and avenue de la Cathédrale, tourists and locals alike can window-shop at their own pace and take part in free activities every day: karaoke, jewelry-making, line dancing, family bingo, beer tasting…

Our picks: the culinary workshop with chef John Mike (July 19) and the Hawaiian Foam Party (July 26).

Le Symposium de peinture du Kamouraska

July 14-19

For its 30th edition, the renowned symposium doesn’t pull any punches! Some thirty artists will be creating live, in the heart of nature, all over the Kamouraska region.

The event will also take over Saint-Pascal’s Place de l’expo with a major exhibition. There will be 5 à 7s every day for collectors and art lovers to meet and chat with the artists.

Le Festival du Bootlegger, Rivière-Bleue

July 25 to 27

Since 2009, this Témiscouata village has been immersed in the hectic days of Prohibition. The festival pays tribute to a mythical figure who ran his own liquor distribution network.

Yes, you’ll be able to buy beer (quite legally!), as well as take part in a washers’ tournament, chansonnier shows and a lively hike along the 3 Frontières trail.

Les Grandes Fêtes Telus, Rimouski

July 31 to August 3

You can’t blame the region’s biggest music festival for lacking ambition.

This year, headliners come from Germany, the United States, Ontario… and even Maniwaki. Their names are deamau5, X Ambassadors, Billy Talent, Robin Schulz and Matt Lang. French-speaking artists sneak in as support acts or on the secondary stage in the Beauséjour Park agora.

Having attracted 90,000 people last year, will the festival set a new record?

Festival Bonjour la visite, Saint-Pascal

July 31-August 3

Talk about a welcoming name! We haven’t even arrived yet, but we’re already feeling welcome!

To mark the end of the construction vacations, we’re getting together with inflatable games, fireworks, sports tournaments and live music.

On Saturday evening, Ludovick Bourgeois and Les BB will give you a good reason to smell your perfume, salt your coffee and forget about going home.
