Top 5 things to do between games

Writing
Laura Martin, she shares her crushes and discoveries with us for our greatest happiness!
Fancy stretching your legs and discovering the region between two puck drops? Whether you’re visiting the Bas-Saint-Laurent for the first time or simply looking for something to do to get you out of the arena for a few hours, here’s our “starting line-up” of must-see attractions during your stay.
Visit the maritime historic site
de la Pointe-au-Père

Used to being cooped up in field hockey amphitheaters? Imagine what it was like for the men who lived for weeks on end confined to a submarine at the bottom of the Atlantic!
The Onondaga is the first submersible to be open to the public in Canada. Due to ongoing work, you won’t be able to go inside, but you will be able to get up close.
On the same site, you can also discover an exhibition recounting the 1914 sinking of the Empress of Ireland in the river off Pointe-au-Père.
Afterwards, climb the 128 steps to the top of Canada’s second-highest lighthouse and complete a hat-trick. Its panoramic views deserve a standing ovation.

Fresh air in Parc national du Bic
After several periods of ankylosis in the Colisée bleachers and vibrating in the hustle and bustle of the crowds, you might want to go and breathe in the fresh air and listen to the wind.
We’re spoiled for choice when it comes to national parks in Quebec… Without wishing to be chauvinistic (or just a little!), this is probably the most spectacular.
Between its capes, bays, coves and mountains, you’ll experience an entirely different kind of thrill, without the sirens or horns. Take a walk along its 25 kilometers of trails, and you’ll be back zen, zen, zen for the finale!

A round of golf

Golf season is approaching for field hockey players. Yours can already begin! Just a stone’s throw from Rimouski, a majestic course awaits you.
The views from the sloping Bic sur mer course will take your breath away. Modernized this winter, the clubhouse offers a brand-new gourmet menu featuring local flavors developed by former Les Chefs finalist Adrian Pastor. More than a century old, the Rivière-du-Loup Golf Club needs no introduction.
The eleventh hole, with its panoramic view of the river, is almost mythical. Make sure you don’t get distracted by such beauty!
Climbing at Riki Bloc
A little rain? No problem! Get moving in the dry and discover new muscles on the walls of this brand-new climbing center, housed in a former church.
Children and parents alike will be delighted to push their limits, one boulder at a time (although you may have to restrain yourself from climbing the arena’s bay windows, but that’s manageable…).
Walking the trails of Sebka

Kamouraska is well known to rock-climbing enthusiasts, with the SEBKA walls offering over a hundred routes to climbers.
This site, stretching from the flats to the Saint-André mountains, is also a hiker’s delight.
More than ten kilometers of intermediate-level trails will stimulate your legs and eyes. Several lookouts offer breathtaking views of this unique landscape, even more breathtaking than a short-handed goal.
