Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac: Enjoy summer in your own way

Wrtiting
Marc Larouche, he shares with us his tourist discoveries of his adopted region with passion!
Whether you’re just passing through, staying at a campground or on a road trip, one thing’s for sure: in Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac, summer can be enjoyed to the full, whatever the weather. And there’s something for everyone.
When the sun shines, put on your bathing suit and head out to discover the two superb, supervised beaches, one in the Cabano district, the other in the Notre-Dame-du-Lac district. At the latter, you can rent pedal boats, canoes and kayaks for a relaxing day on the water. Even better: kayaks are available free of charge on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. A wonderful initiative made possible by Circonflexe, for those who want to glide along the water without breaking their backs. And on a 42 km-long lake, one of the largest inland waterways in Quebec, there’s plenty of space to paddle, contemplate the mountains and feel free.

No boats? No problem.
Take one of the lake’s two crossings: one for cars, the other for pedestrians and cyclists. The latter, called l’Épinoche, links the pedestrian quay in the Cabano district to Lac-Témiscouata National Park, a natural jewel where trails and the Grey Owl bike path await you.
It’s the perfect opportunity to see the lake from a different angle, between wilderness and tranquillity.

Cyclists will be delighted by the Petit Témis trail, which runs along the lake from Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac.
It’s lined with several charming restaurants where you can grab a bite to eat after a ride: l’Auberge de la gare, la Petite Étage, Le Corégone… all within easy reach. And for those who ride electric bikes, two recharging stations are available, so you can recharge your batteries before setting off on your next adventure.

What if it rains?
Head for the PGR recreation center, where you’ll find an indoor running track lined with a huge photographic mural that plunges you into the lake’s landscapes: water games and an indoor park for the kids, a training room, a gym for playing pickle ball or badminton, board games, a relaxed atmosphere…
It’s the perfect place to stretch your legs while staying dry.
In the mood for culture? Don’t miss Marie Blanc, une histoire du Témiscouata, a musical presented at BeauLieu Culturel from July 18 to August 10. Inspired by a true story, the play recounts the life of an enigmatic woman who left her mark on the regional imagination. Let yourself be carried away by this moving tale, told by local artists, led by the sublime voice of Claudie Lavoie.

Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac is all this and more. Whether you’re a sporty or a contemplative type, we’ve got something for every type of vacationer. Take the time to explore… and let us surprise you.
