Marc Larouche, he shares with us his tourist discoveries of his adopted region with passion!

Captain of the Rimouski Océanic during its historic Memorial Cup conquest in 2000, Jonathan Beaulieu now returns, 25 years later, to the event that marked his life, this time as honorary co-president.

What I experienced then is still with me today. And I hope that those taking part in this year’s Cup will experience something similar.

A native of the Quebec City region, Jonathan Beaulieu played for the Océanic for five seasons, when the team was just beginning its history. He was captain in 2000, when Rimouski won the Memorial Cup.

“It wasn’t me, it was the team. That group made history, and I was lucky enough to be part of it,” he says, humbly, as his jersey hangs from the ceiling of the Colisée Financière Sun Life.

A welcome return

In 2025, Rimouski will once again host the prestigious Canadian junior tournament, from May 22 to June 1. And Jonathan Beaulieu, now a representative at Soprema, has proudly accepted the role of honorary co-president.

I was surprised they thought of me, he admits. But on reflection, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to give a little back, to be part of the adventure once again.

His role is to carry the torch of this memorable edition in the company of Brad Richard, who was also a player for the Océanic when they won the Cup in 2000. Both will take part in the events surrounding the Cup and, above all, share in the experience.

I’m here to support, to be present. And if I can help ensure that 25 years from now, players will remember this edition as I remember mine, then it will be mission accomplished.

He will be on hand throughout the tournament, both at the arena and at the many associated events.

It’s more than just a simple hockey tournament. It’s ten days of festivities with an impressive program, both indoors and outdoors. Even those without tickets will be able to enjoy the atmosphere, thanks to the outdoor areas.

What about the Océanic’s chances of winning in 2025? Jonathan Beaulieu believes so.

The team had an excellent season. We can dream, absolutely. But what’s important is that everyone takes away lasting memories.

The message is out: Rimouski is ready to celebrate the Memorial Cup. Jonathan Beaulieu will be there to welcome it… and to remember it, once again.
