You’ll be charmed by Témiscouata, with its breathtaking panoramas in every season, its generous nature and its many lakes, including Lake Témiscouata, the 2nd largest lake south of the St. Lawrence River, not to mention the famous Lake Pohénégamook and its legendary Ponik monster!
3 bucolic picnic spots in the region
Parc Clair Soleil in Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac
This magnificent park, crossed by the Petit Témis bike path, is located in the downtown Cabano district on Rue Commerciale Nord, bordering Lake Témiscouata and the marina. You’ll find play areas for children, including water games, a walking trail, picnic tables, gazebos, water gardens and beautiful landscaping.
Suggested lunch spots nearby: Amarante, ecological grocery and vegetarian prepared meals, Tentations Gourmandes bakery, Le Détour cheese shop, Poissonnerie de l’Eau à la bouche (fish shop), Les Folies Glacées (ice cream)…
Domaine Vallier Robert in Auclair
Take the time to visit the maple economuseum, specializing in Domaine Acer alcoholic beverages, located in a truly enchanting setting.
In addition to the guided tour, wine cellar discovery, product tasting and boutique, you can also hike the 2 km marked Maple Trail and order maple sap wines, cocktails and snacks at the Acer Café to enjoy in the picnic area.
Viewpoint de la Croix de la montagne of Pohénégamook
This summit is accessible by car via Rang Ignace-Nadeau, or on foot and by ATV from the Pohénégamook beach. It offers a panoramic view of majestic Lake Pohénégamook. A cross has been erected by the community.
Before you head out, pick up some delicious healthy dishes and takeaway beverages from Food Truck Zèle Café (Poke bowls, salads, sandwiches, waffle pops, etc.) and beers from microbrewery Le Secret des Dieux.
