There are places where time slows down, where the eye lingers, where something within us settles gently. In Kamouraska, Michel Leroux’s studio-gallery is one of those places.

As soon as you walk through the door, an atmosphere settles in—one of light and a living silence. On the walls, the works come alive. They do not seek to impress; they breathe. And, little by little, they draw us in.

For over 40 years, Michel LeRoux has painted with a rare fidelity to what dwells deep within him: the forest, the rivers, the passing seasons that transform everything. From his art emanates a nature truer than the original. One feels the freshness of a summer morning, the thrill of a breeze through the leaves, the quiet strength of flowing water.

All my mornings lead to the studio

he says. And it shows. Each canvas is born from a lived moment, from an emotion accumulated through walks in the forest, stops by the river, and silent contemplations.

He speaks of the forest as a cathedral, of rivers as elks, of light as a revelation. And that is exactly what we find in his works: a light that touches, that warms, that lingers.

His rich and cohesive collections reflect a solid and respected artistic career. Over the years, Michel LeRoux has built a distinctive, acclaimed, and award-winning body of work that has found its place among both collectors and art lovers seeking authenticity.

Each painting bears his sensitive signature—that rare ability to capture the invisible, that precise moment when nature becomes emotion.

But beyond the accolades, what stands out most is the experience. Because here, we don’t just look at paintings. We take our time. We let ourselves be immersed. We also discover the man behind the artist—generous, ready to share a glimpse of his journey, a fragment of his perspective.

Located at 152 Morel Avenue, his studio-gallery is open from June 20 to September 20, daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A perfect stop during a summer getaway to Kamouraska. A refreshing break. An encounter that leaves a lasting impression.

You walk in out of curiosity, drawn by the beauty of the place or a chance turn of the path. You walk out with something more. An image, a sensation, sometimes even a work of art that will continue to live in your home, like an extension of this encounter.

Michel LeRoux doesn’t just paint what he sees. He paints what we feel—and what we may have forgotten.
