Take a trip to the heart of the history and nature of Île aux Basques! Protected by the Société Provancher since 1929, the Parc naturel et historique de l'Île-aux-Basques is a jewel located in the heart of the St. Lawrence where you can observe the traces of past occupants and, depending on the season, hundreds of species of migratory birds and even seals.
Basque Island was first visited over 2000 years ago by the First Nations who came here to trade, then it was occupied by Basque fishermen as early as 1584 to butcher whales and melt their blubber.
Duration: 3 hours, including transportation by boat.
See the "Cottages" tab for lodging possibilities along the river.
