About

Saint-Athanase offers attractions showcasing the beauty of the surrounding nature. Orignal Falls and Mount Thompson, located in the maple groves of the Black River valley, are accessible partly by car and by hiking. In the center of the municipality, take the road to the parking lot and continue on foot for 3 kilometers to reach the waterfall.

Thereafter, a multifunctional trail (quad, mountain bike, hiking ) located 6 km further, offers a 6 km hike leading to the belvedere (rest and picnic area) installed on one of the highest peaks of Témiscouata culminating at 630 meters above sea level. Lac aux Canards, for its part, is accessible by the Picard road, at the head of Lac Boucané, by a hiking trail of almost 4 km in a loop accessible all year round. Snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and hiking enthusiasts when the snow melts can enjoy a rest and picnic area, as well as wildlife and flora interpretation terminals all along the trail. .
