St. Lawrence River Lighthouses

To travel the shores of the St. Lawrence is to discover its lighthouses. Long home to faithful lighthouse keepers, they warned mariners of the many hazards of the estuary, one of the most dangerous in the world. There are three in the Bas-Saint-Laurent tourist region. The light of the Pot à l'Eau-de-vie is on the archipelago of the same name, off Rivière-du-Loup. You can stay the night in this lighthouse - beautifully restored by Société Duvetnor - and experience the life the keeper. On Île Verte, admire the oldest lighthouse on the St. Lawrence, built in 1809. You can stay in the keeper's house. At Pointe-au-Père, in the Rimouski sector, climb the 128 steps of the lighthouse to take in the 180-degree view of the shore. Three unique lighthouses, three unforgettable experiences.
