To see the Bas-Saint-Laurent from a different viewpoint, take the Route Bleue: a network of 95 boat slips, secure shelters, rest areas, accommodations, restaurant services, and rustic or commercial campgrounds.
Attractions and Activities
This navigable water route is reserved for small crafts: sea kayaks, canoes, small sailboats, pneumatic boats. The Sentier maritime du Saint-Laurent promotes the St. Lawrence River, making it accessible to the public while encouraging the conservation of the natural environment, protecting it from intensive use, and raising the awareness of inhabitants and users for the protection of ecosystems. It promotes safe boating and creates a new source of attraction, exposure and revenue for the tourist industry.
Inaugurated in June 2005, the Route bleue runs along the south shore of the estuary from Berthier-sur- Mer to Les Méchins close to 400 kilometres of shoreline. Many services are available to members, including kayak racks and rebates at many shops. By becoming a member of the Route bleue du sud de l’estuaire, you will have Internet access to all the maps of the Route bleue currently in use and you will receive the Guide bleu, which explains how to plan excursions on the St. Lawrence, water safety, and the rules and the code of ethics for users. The maps present possible itineraries, local navigation conditions, special attractions and services.
